Work Authorization
Application for Employment Authorization, allows individuals to request permission to work legally in the United States. This form is typically used by non-citizens who are eligible to work in the U.S. under specific categories but require proof of authorization. An approved EAD, also known as a work permit, serves as official documentation of your eligibility to work in the U.S. You may be eligible to file Form I-765 for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) if you are in a qualifying category, such as Temporary Protected Status (TPS), adjustment of status (Green Card applicants with a pending Form I-485), Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), or asylum/refugee status. F-1 students in Optional Practical Training (OPT) or economic hardship, as well as certain dependents of nonimmigrant visa holders, may also qualify. An approved EAD allows you to work legally in the U.S. while maintaining your immigration status.
Travel Authorization
Application for Travel Document, allows individuals to request permission to re-enter the United States after traveling abroad. This form is typically used by applicants for adjustment of status, certain nonimmigrant visa holders, or those in Temporary Protected Status (TPS). An approved Advance Parole document ensures that you can travel internationally without jeopardizing your immigration status in the U.S. You may be eligible to file Form I-131 for a travel document if you are a Green Card applicant with a pending Form I-485, a TPS holder, an asylee or refugee, or in another category requiring a re-entry permit. Advance Parole allows temporary international travel without jeopardizing your U.S. immigration status.
